that last pic is freakin' adorable! sounds like my dad's roundhouse plan will solve the smooshed in a corner scares. he's out now at the hardware store--just got the right wood at Lowe's.
we're going to plan her shelves together tomorrow after he has the basic frame laid out, but i am thinking that right around the middle we can do a sort of 3/4 moon shape shelf to give her a 2nd hangout spot that's good-sized.
did you need to rinse your wood in hot water before use? i'm confused about why you'd need to do that with untreated/kiln-dried. it seems like it could just be wiped down to rid it of any dirt, dust, sawdust.

kiln dried pine boards do not need any preparation before being used in the cage. if there is excess glue (only use Elmer's glue as it is non toxic) on the wood after putting something together (house, etc) for your chins, then just sand it off.

the scrub/boil/bake is for wood that has come straight off a tree.

Just a heads up kool aid takes forever to soak in the color. Food coloring works great. To get the color in faster sand down the wood in all sides, for some reason the color is more bold. I sun dry mine in the summer, for winter I'm going to have to dry it then bake it a bit to make sure it's dried.

GodofGods: I still love that pic of the squished chin since the last time I saw it on a different post lol.

Some pics just make a point so well lol.

I agree:rofl:, the picture makes me think of a chinchilla bandit hehehe. Sometimes when I see them do the craziest things, I can't seem to get the camera fast enough before they move. Then when you have the camera in hand they just sit there and stare at you :hair:
