Hey guys! My name's Angela, and I'm a college student at Cal Poly Pomona University in southern California. I currently have one chinnie whom i've had for a year and a half (i got her when she was 3 months old.) She is a gorgeousssss mosaic from Bowen's Chinchilla Ranch. Actually, I was hoping for your opinions on what color she is.. the breeder told my boyfriend she was a wilson white, but she looks more like a mosaic to me (I wasn't there when he purchased her to clarify, because she was a suprise present.)

I'm really glad I stumbled across this forum a couple months ago. Since then, I've been reading as many posts as I can, to soak in as much info as possible. I've been spending so much time here my boyfriend thinks I've gone crazy. Anyways, I'm glad to be a part of this forum, and I'm glad to be able to keep learning so much from all of you!

Welcome Angela. :)

She looks like a mosaic to me, and she's a cutie. I would think Bowen's would know what they are selling, but I've always known Wilson whites to be just white with dark eyes.

 Hello & welcome to CnH.

Lovely looking chinny you've got there - I am sure she will have you trained in no time. ;)

Angela welcome to the nut house! We are all chin crazy here and we don't want a cure or medicine to help us!!! Your girlie is super cute!

:welcome4: Your chinnie might even be considered a 'silver mosaic' because of all that dark tipping on her back. Someone correct me if I'm wrong! Either way, she's very pretty!

Welcome! Beautiful chinnie!

Wilson white is the official name of the dominant white mutation. Some use the term to refer only to an all white animal with dark eyes/dark ears and use the term mosaic for a chin with gray tipping or markings. I normally just call any white animal a mosaic... or a white. Technically though, the mutation that causes any chin to be white, mosaic, silver, extreme mosaic, panda mosaic, etc. is "Wilson white" or white for short.

She's not a silver. Actual silvers are hard to find. ;) When it comes down to it, a white is just a white. There are a lot of different terms but when it comes to showing, whites are whites. Most of the terms are mainly for identifying genetics.

I do know that any white is basically a White, but thanks for clarifying! I did not know silvers were rare.. :)
