I purchased this playpen, and I'm telling you it was the best $50 I ever spent. You can arrange it in so many positions (around the cage, attached to the cage, or just simply blocking off a portion of the room you are in.

I keep my chins in my office and I just place this in front of the areas I don't want them in (in front of my desk, computer and bookshelf) so they can pretty much come and go in and out of the cage as they please during playtime. (I never leave them out unattended). So far they have not tried to jump over it. I used to use cardboard to block these areas and it was such a pain in the behind - plus they would end up chewing holes through it and get back behind my computer anyway. With this new playpen that no longer happens.

I have two playpens attached to my chin's cage, so she has an extra big play space, and it works great for me. This way I can keep her cage door open and she can go freely between her cage and pen. My chin is not a jumper and has never tried to jump over it, unless I'm sitting in the pen with her and she jumps on my shoulder. Then she'll think about escape! Otherwise, she has never tried to escape, although that is not true for every chin. If it becomes an issue, ever, I will attach tall cardboard pieces to the outside of it. But it is a great way for her to have out of cage time, and I don't have to worry about what to do with her at cleaning time.

That's a good idea with the cardboard. I use something very similar to block off the end of my hallway so that I can use it for a play area. :) As soon as they decide that they can't get over or around something, they are so good in their play areas! :)
