what did they give the little guy?

also if you need any help with administering the meds, please ask.

hopefully after this round of meds & a transition to good feed & lots of fresh hay & minimal treats this little dude will be feeling great in no time!

lol that's funny. Thread stalker is a funny comment. But thanks for replying. I hope our little ones pull through.

The medicine they gave him by the way is called Baytril, they said it would cure his upper respiratory problem and he would start to feel better which would result in him putting his package away =)

If the baytril you have is oral be prepared to hand feed Critical Care since its known to kill the appetite.

The Baytril is oral via syringe. You saying to feed him something called Critical Care? or I just need to hand feed him in general?

Call the vet and ask if they have Critical care, its a powder food that when mixed with water is syringe fed to the chin.

Ok I will do that, thanks for the heads up on this, I would have been back here asking why he wasn't eating now if it came to that.

Much appreciated!

I just hope all this makes the poor little guy all better again. I just want them to be healthy and happy.

If the vet does not give you a feeding syringe, you can buy one at Petsmart/Petco in the bird health section or dog/cat section. Feed him at least 60ml a day broken up into a few feedings or as much as he will eat. You are shooting for 60ml at least, they can eat upwards of 100ml. Mix it to a thick milkshake consistancy for easy syringing.

I would also keep his shelves and bedding very very clean, as his bits can get dirty and infected. If the boy doesn't like Critical Care, there are a couple more options you can try, im sure people on here will chime in on Lifeline and Essentials for life, which all my chins love, and you can get online shipped to you.

Good luck!
