I found its easier to use a medicine dropper which i cut the end off for the critical care as I had the same problem as you with the syringe.Hope he is ok. x

Is it 45g with out the water added.

After the water is added, specifically to directions. Once you measure out the 45 gm, then you can dilute it down a bit more to an easier to pass consistency.

how much do you give an hour or whatever like 15g 3x a day or something?

Split it up and give several times per day. When I was hand feeding my malo boy I fed every 4 hours and it worked well.

Well here is an update on my boy. He is much more perky, bouncing off the walls when i have him out to play. He is still getting reglan and cisapride every 8-12 hours. He is still getting sub-q fluids 2x a day which i am administering myself and he does really good with it. He is getting his antibiotic and has 2 more days left of this. 4hours after the antibiotic I am giving probitoics. I am giving simethicone drops every 4 hours after every feeding of critical care which i am forcing but hardly getting enough into him. He is getting belly massages frequently. I have seen him sip off his water bottle maybe once a day if that. The level is marked and not going down. He acts like he wants to eat but doesnt. He will pick up a piece of hay nibble a few times and put it down same with food. He is chewing on his apple wood though. His weight is currently at 440g. as of this am. I wish he would gain though. His poop has doubled in size and is softer. He is peeing too. Is there anything i can do to try and get more critical care in him. I even ordered the apple banana. He just spits it back out and sometimes eats a little. I cant find the blackstrap molasses anywhere like someone stated.

I'm glad he's feeling a little bit better. You can find the molasses at any health food store like whole foods or anything along those lines. I have used it in making somecupcakes for my dog.

Don't they usually have it at the grocery by the pancake syrups? I have some in my pantry that I use for baking...I just bought it at the regular grocery store.

I bet my doggies would absolutely love little cupcakes.

I have checked biggs, remkes, kroger and walmart. They all have the regular molasses like grandmas and karo syrup but it has lots of sugar. So i dont want to use it.

Check with chiropracters in your area. They may carry the black strap molasses. If you have a Piggly Wiggly grocery store near you they will have it.

I guess you'd have to go to more of a health food store type of place. The sugar wouldn't be the best thing for the chins, of course.

When I lived in Paducah all I had was the tiniest little store to go to for specialty items - it wasn't so bad when I lived in Louisville.

You don't have to drive into Cincinnati for larger stores, do you? (I knew people in Florence and would go visit from time to time...)

I found some from a health food store in florence. He still wont hardly take the critcal care. So i gave him some sub-q fluids this afternoon and then let him sleep. He woke up and started eating his pellets. I gave him some oat supplement and he ate all of it. This is hopefully a big improvement. Still no water intake though. I dont think i am going to give him more sub-q fluids tonight and see if he will drink on his own.

So smokey is eating pellets and chewing on wood but he isn't drinking. I am only giving sub-q fluids once a day in the morning now and only 20cc. Does this sometimes happen where they start eating first and not drinking? He has been eating on his own for 2 days now but no water intake.

Omg what a mess. I definately wouldnt be giving penacillin and i would definately be looking for another vet asap. I hope he makes it
