I'm getting worried that we haven't heard back yet whether chinnie was found. It doesn't look good at this point, I'm afraid. :(

I know, I hope maybe she found him and just hasn't had time to let us know. I am praying that anyway.

I came back to this thread too, hoping that the chin had been found.

As much as it's great when someone comes on here for help, it is very frustrating when they sign in as a guest with an emergency and then never bother to let us know what has happened to the chinchilla. I have thought about this chin every day wondering if they ever found her.

Thank you for all of your help and concern guys!

We did find Maddie, finally... she ended up having a 3 day adventure.. and we found her in the downstairs laundry room hiding under a rack of hung clothes.

We tried the food piles in each room... and the dust bath... that helped narrow down which room she was in for the first day.. but then we coudlnt' find her.

Then we tried checking out the downstairs, cause I do remember them liking to run up and down the stairs... luckily, my mom found droppings in the laundry room, and sure enough, she was hiding in there.

Poor thing was without food for a few days... i hope she didn't ingest something she shouldn't have.

And Sorry for my lack of response... never my intentions "as a guest"...

We actually found her late thursday night... and I am out of town every weekend without internet access.

She's been eating and drinking regularly, her droppings have been normal. Whcih is very much a relief. But we are still keeping an eye on her.

Glad to hear you found the chin, and that she's alive and well. :)

Yes, thank you for the update. I've read that without food/water they can develop gut stasis (sp?) real fast, you're very lucky she's ok.

Oh wow glad to here she was found. I had 3 get out (of the same cage) once and found 2 immediately (it happened during the night) but couldn't find the other. I kept thinking i heard her but i couldn't find her. I trained my dog to "find the baby" (meaning the chin) and he kept leading me into my sons room and on his bed. I checked and checked on and around my sons bed (he has a captains bed so she couldn't be underneith) i didn't see her anywhere so i was paniced. I had my kids and their friends looking (i offered 10 to the first one to find her, lol) then all of a sudden i heard that noise again, i was positive it was coming from my sons room. So i went in there calling her and she made a noise and i looked up by the headboard which is a bookcase and there in a small space (probably only 6-8 inches) between the bookcase and the wall and there she was. Looking straight up at me with those cute little eyes. I couldn't even be mad at her cause she looked scared, lol apparently she must have gotten into my sons room and on his bed and then fallen down into that little spot and couldn't get out. It was just big enough for her body to fit but nothing else. She was calling me to help and all along the dog knew where she was. Now i keep locks on their cages.

I have used dust baths to catch escapees mine can't resist a good dust bath, good luck.

My chocolate lab is like, obsessed with the chins... so whenever we let them run around, she is fine around them, she only sniffs... but she loves following them.. so I was thinking if I got really desperate that I would just take her to every room and let her sniff her out, but luckily it didn't come to that.

You're all so kind to care about me and my situation! thank you! :)
