Hello! My name is Amanda, and I am hopefully bringing home a rescue Chinchilla tomorrow! I filled out the app, and now they just have to get ahold of my landlord, and she has to remember who I am and that I am allowed animals. She's kind of incompetent, so we'll see if that happens. I have my chin cage all set up in my office area. My friend who already owns chins pointed me to this site and gave me all sorts of pointers on chinchilla ownership. I am excited to be bringing a new companion home. If the rescue does not work out, I have done a bit of research on other places I could acquire a chinchilla from.
I currently teach special education in a 6th-8th grade functional classroom. The kids are wonderful, and I come home with many stories and memories each day. We have 2 hermit crabs as class pets, and the students have asked if they can earn a 3rd next year through our classroom behavior reward system. At my home, I also have 2 small dogs who are not allowed in the office area, since it's used as a guest bedroom at times, and a boyfriend, who I sometimes have to clean up after like a pet.
