Hello and Introduction

I am a new chinchilla owner just about a week now and I'd like to introduce myself and my chinchilla.

My name is Annie and I adopted Handbag (the name he came with) from the San Diego Humane Society, who is a 5-year-old with good manners. He has adapted to my household of one dog and one cat swimmingly. His flying disk wheel arrived the other day and my Ferret Nation 142 will arrive in the next few days. I have already prepared some new shelves for him and stitched some fleece liners (thanks to the boards here).

He made his first solo venture outside the cage last night for an hour supervised romp. No popcorning yet :dance3:

I took Handbag for his complimentary vet visit and found the perfect future vet. Bought some awesome quality hay there as well. He got a clean bill of health.

I very much look forward to learning great tips here on the boards and I'm so thankful I've found you.

Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome. I hope to learn a lot.

As for Handbag's name, well, I was going to change it but he really responds to it. It's been his name for 5 years so I think I'll keep it. He seems to be a very sweet chinchilla. He's very friendly, likes to be petted and held. I'm looking forward to seeing his personality bloom. I've only had him for 10 days.

Not very long at all. He kinda of swung around on it at first but was up in running in about 15 minutes. He had a large plastic wheel that came with him from the humane society so I got rid of that right away. I ordered from Quality Cages on a Saturday, 7/21, and it was shipped on Monday, 7/23 and arrived Friday, 7/27. Super speedy. Easy to install too!
