Doesn't look like he is hit to me. She looks like she put her hand up to keep him from flipping over. Definitely one of the healthier ones I've seen videos of.

No, she popped/smacked him as a scold for eating the rice krispie treat.

That being said, as much as I don't agree with her mannerisms, I do agree with you that he looks like one of the healthier, friendlier, actually dusted chinchillas on youtube.

I saw where she made the motion, but she didn't have the right momentum/stance/posture to do anything. Logistically there is no way for her to "pop" something that has only 1" of body/head sticking up above her hand with any force. She could put her hand up there to tip his head up, or to "threaten" but really - I think you guys are seriously overreacting.

I'm not saying anything about how horrible this person is. I just wanted to say that my chinchillas knew what the word "no" meant. If they were doing something naughty, I would give them a sharp no and they they stop what they were doing. I've heard people say that you can't tell a chinchilla no because they wouldn't understand. But mine would certainly respond.

She's certainly not the worst chinchilla owner out there that is for sure, but I do think she handles her chin too roughly. I'd never grab any of my guys by the ribs like that. I tend to be really gentle with my guys and scoop them up to hold onto them. I know some people that are quite rough with their kids too and it's more of a personality thing. They don't injure their kids but they've definitely got a rougher approach with them than I and others do.

Here's a video I hate! Owners who didn't do their research make me so MAD!

Of course it is about a cage and not handling, but it's unhealthy all the same.
Why does this bother you? This is an awesome cage, and clearly an owner who cares. If you'd seen the things I get dumped here and the living conditions you'd be happy when you saw stuff like this.

Tanks are not "the evil" every makes them out to be. I used them for years, only quit using them because they are too heavy for one person to move. They are wonderful quarantine/sick cages, you can completely sterilize them, they block noise and keep a constant temperature inside.

In the setup above, clearly the chin can get out of the tank and go "upstairs" so to speak. Best of both worlds.

Granted you can't please everyone. I get mostly nasty comments on my grooming video and the reality is chins get groomed for shows.
