Ohmygoodness those pictures are precious, love the cuddling one and I might have to hunt me down a crocodile ;)
Also, their cage is shaping up to look really spectacular! Your chins are lucky boys

Thank you!! Orville came from a tiny cage and I want him to love out the rest of his life in luxury. My moneys not for me anymore :)

I really should have waited on posting some of the pictures, but I was ready to share. We knew the plastic would spark some comments. Currently the pans are the only plastics left and the boys don't seem to like chewing plastic. Wilbur's old cage mate was the chewer.

I so know what you mean. I realized the other day that I have spent more time and money reno-ing the cage for my boys (who arrive on Wed) than I have on any other part of my apartment! I can't bring myself to spend money on 'me things'...not when I could use it to spoil my fur babies!

and now there is a hut on the top level:

On the bottom level where there is the big empty space there now resides a flying saucer wheel. I'm going to be adding some more wood ledges and some more chews have been added since these pics were taken as well.

Trust me, once they arrive it will be a photo explosion. The whole internet will know how adorable they are!

Are you planning on potty training HNBC? Also, wood ledges are fabulously cheap to make! I enjoyed the experience and I'm sure you will too!

Yes, potty training is the plan :) And if they refuse to be potty trained that Plan B (which includes tiles) will be put into action ;)

I've considered making my own wood shelves, I might do it eventually but my schedule doesn't really align with hardware store hours right now, so instead I'm supporting Zoey and Lilo's Toybox and ordering some perches from Park Place Chinchillas

The cage is amazing. I tried making the liners tonight and it was much more difficult than I had anticipated. I tired to sew a towel in the liners for extra thickness and absorption. How did you make yours

How do you potty train? What are the tiles for?

Thank you :)
I will post more pics in the FN Club thread when it's complete. To sew the shelf covers I made them pillow case style! I sewed a rectangle that fit snuggly to the shelf and left a longer flap on one end. When I put the liner on the shelf I then tucked the flap underneath and into the 'pillow case'. Two of my liners I sewed by hand, the other two went MUCH faster after my landlady lent me my sewing machine. The fleece tubs and hammocks came from Zoey and Lilo's Toybox (amazing online store!!) and the pine hut was custom made by a local chin lover who is handy with wood ;)

Potty training is when your chins pee in one spot and then you put a litter dish (with chin safe shavings) in that spot, and they pee in the dish instead. It doesn't work with all chins, I'm hoping it will work with mine. If it doesn't work, I will probably tile the bottoms of each level (there are a few threads on it on this forum) and then take out the big plastic fleece covered shelves and replace them with a variety of wood shelves instead. The tiles are dual purpose: easy to clean and they keep the chins cool!
