[update] Gizmos poops are more frequent now, but they are small and kind of round. Could it be because of the antibiotics? I can see his appetite SORT OF coming back...he chewed on a little chinese finger trap thingy for like 5 minutes today..and he eats a little hay here and there...But most of the nutrition comes from the Critical Care that I feed. How long should I syringe feed him for?? I don't want him to grow dependent on it...hah..

It definitely could be the antibiotics, but also the antibiotics are affecting his appetite and that affects the droppings. If he's eating on his own, just supplement him with the critical care. With chins like him I can often give them a small dish of critical care all mixed up and they will eat on their own. It really is best to feed him only as long as he needs it. After he's done with his medication it will probably only take a few days for him to go back to normal. Adding more probiotics to the critical care of sprinkled over his food can help get him back to normal faster.

Just watch him...how much longer does he have to take the antibiotics? I hope it isn't too much longer and he gets back to normal very very soon.

It says to feed them to him for 3-5 days. What type of consistency should the CC be?? I was trying to get it through a syringe but it says to mix 1 part cc to 2 parts water, and that turns it into a pasty-type substance, should i just make the paste then put it in his cage??

You can make the paste and put it in a dish and see if he'll eat it on his own. If you have to syringe feed, you may have to mix it with more water to get it to go into the syringe more easily. I've noticed that if I let it sit for a few minutes, it will thicken up on its own even if I have watered it down. You may have to work with it a bit to see how much water you have to put in it to make it liquid enough to work with syringe feeding.

Yeah I got it into a syringe earlier. I hate syringe feeding because sometimes he'll move his head and itll get on his fur a little =/

Handfeeding can lead to messy fur very easily. But, don't worry, it will come out with regular dusting in a short time. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do to keep the chins going. Hopefully you won't have to feed the critical care for too long to little Mr. Gizmo.

Yeah this is true, he chews on that star that you sent but he doesn't want to seem to eat hay, I don't know if it's because I'm feeding him the CC or what, but I don't really want to hold of on feeding too long, as I've learned their weight can drop significantly fast.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but in addition to the CC and his usual offerings, you could give him a bit of loose alfalfa. It has a slight laxative effect and chins usually go nuts for it.

Best wishes for Gizmo!

Yeah his hay is an alfalfa/timothy mix. I just bought a box and the majority of the alfalfa is usually on top. Thanks! :)

Update#894352385: Just went to petsmart(Don't start shunning me yet) and got some Oxbow Botanical Hay. Put that in his cage and he was all over it! His appetite is slowly returning. He's chewing on wood now too. Things are starting to look good!!!
