my chinchilla's fur around her eye has been progressively less thick for about the last two weeks or so. I wasn't sure what it was, but I read online and some people suggested putting tinactin in the dust in case it was a fungal infection.. I have done that but it doesn't appear to be getting better. it doesn't look terrible, but it looks nothing like her other eye. you can tell some fur has gone missing.
I just moved, so she's in my room all the time now.. I noticed her crying at night 2 days this week. it was only for about ten seconds and it could have been nothing.. we are in a new place and something might have just frightened her. I'm not sure if this is a symptom or not.
also, I just noticed her plopping herself down. she usually sleeps while sitting, but today she was actually laying down. that might not be a symptom either, but it isn't something she does often.
I think I am going to take her to the vet next week, but I just wanted to know if anyone knew what was up with her eye

it seems like she is really itchy now.. i see her scratching herself with her hind legs a few times a day, and using her paws all over her face often as well. she was just biting the fur under her mouth/chin because it was itchy. I stepped in and scratched her for a good five minutes there and she seemed pleased and stopped biting herself.

How is she eating? Drinking? Is there a lot of crumbled up pellets? How are her poops? What is the temperature in your room? Airflow? I would not offer her anymore dustbaths with tenactin until you take her to the vets and get a diagnosis that it is fungus. I believe you need to go to the vets asap and not wait a week. Her fur around her eye looks matted down which could be anything from an irritated eye, pink eye, allergies or malo. You cannot know for sure until you get her to a vet.

she is eating and drinking fine.. my room is 70 degrees. her poops seem okay. I don't notice crumpled pellets.
