Do chins have issues exploring the double unit? I'm trying to figure what ledge would be the most comfortable fit beneath the hole of the middle division layer. Which leads to another important question; what age/weight is appropriate to allow a chin to explore both parts of the cage?

We use the gravity ledge that comes with the FN cages (modified with our scatter guard) as the support for the (fleece covered) ramp. We modify it so that we can put bedding on this half level. It greatly increases floor space and adds a nice wide landing.

As for age of chins exploring, we have babies that can maneuver up to the higher levels. With the extra wide ledge supporting the ramp, it's especially safe...but then again, we put a nice thick 4 inches of bedding down too.

I just have a lava ledge just below opening and my boys do fine!
