Okay so I posted in the past I couldn't find a good place to order them from, so since then I've ordered from three different places, and three different sizes from each place, only to have the part that the food comes out of [sorry don't know the technical name] too small of an opening for the CC to be able to come out. I have just 2 good syringes left and want to keep quite a few on hand.

So my question is anyone that has found some syringes with a decent size opening, can you pls tell me where you are getting them from. I don't care what size it is, as long as the CC can come out of it without it being bascially so watered down that's it's mostly a drink and not food.

Thanks,
Jean

I hand feed my one chin 3 x a day and have tried many different syringes.
He did not like me coming at him with the real big ones, so I use the smaller ones.
I got 6ml ones from the vet that work well but i also found they the ones from walmart are my favorite.
they are in the regular medical section, they cost about $1.60 for one (that is in NJ) and they hold 10ml. I do water down my food a bit though. I also use a mix of CC & crushed up pellets, so my consistancy is a little different.

i belive it is this one or one similar to this, but this is the brand:

as I said before, I love the feeding syringes from KV vet supply - I do have to cut the tips to make a bigger hole but it really works for me

I bought a bunch of 10ml syringes from the local pharmacy for $1 each. I thought the openings were a bit small so I took a sharp knife and cut a piece of the tip off and that seemed to work better. I also thinned out the Critical Care a little bit so it wasn't so thick and hard to plunge. That seemed to help it flow better as well.

When handfeeding one chin, I used small medicine droppers. I found them easier than syringes. They come in lots of sizes too

A couple suggestions:

1. If you cut the tips, use a flame to soften the cut end and, with a wet finger, Round the edges. The tips can cause small cuts.

2. Some chins are very content- especially after a few feedings- to eat a bit that is extruded past the tip end. This stops any chewing.

3. Some plastic plungers will degrade and stick if washed in hot water. I use Oxydol in tepid water.

I recently got the same one Stackie has, it's great! Nice big opening, plenty of room for a good amount of cc.
