Easy to make toys.

Since I rarely find toys in stores and the fact I'm a bit short on cash does anyone know toys I can make myself pretty easy?

The only toy I have at the moment is that hayball (which already is being used 24/7 :hammer

I was already thinking of a little mirror with a bell attached, is this considered safe for chins?

well if you have something to string it on and some chew toys already, can you just put some things together. I did that the other day, I have a wire left from one of their other destroyed toys and just poked some things on it that i already have for them but are in single pieces. Some of their chew toys i get have a hole in them, so it was easy for me to do.. Maybe that isn't a good idea, but I don't know what you have already. sorry.

Chins like to chew so I would be afraid to put a mirror in the cage. Wood items are really good; if you can get some plain pine blocks cut down that would be cheap and they would love to chew those up! Look in the advertising section of the board here, there are a lot of great sellers that sell nice things for very reasonable prices.

like above, there are some people here who sell at really nice prices so that is always a good thing to check out
Also getting just a bunch of wood and some wire you can make some yourself, the only tools needed are a drill and some pliers- there are people who just sell large amounts of wood at nice prices, I just got a large bag from Barbi and made some toys, worked great, my little guy loves em and is really quite inexpensive

Could you define "hay ball"? Is it one of those hay rack deals? If so those worry me personally because a leg could easily get stuck during the wild things chins do when we're not looking!

I remove the ball at night when i'm not around but they aren't that energetic
I just don't want them to become lazy

for a change on my chins 'hay ball'... I use an empty toilet paper roll and have stuffed it with hay then fold down the side and the other side.. making it into a little package... I leave a little bit of hay hanging out so Charlie knows there is a goody inside... and in the morning he will have it partially or all the way open... gives him some chewing time and some yummies at the same time

not sure it's a good thing... but he enjoys it. Any thoughts from more experienced 'parents'??
