Kool Aid works but you don't get a nice bright color. I use USDA professional food dye that I bought online. The colors are much brighter and it takes less time to dye the wood.

The nice thing about dying w/ koolaid is that you end up w/ flavored wood. My Chins seem to like koolaid dyed wood better than when I used food dye.

My chins like the koolaid-colored wood, and seem to pick out the colors/flavors they like best! I ordered an assortment from someone last year but am just about out again now. Of course, the plain ones are what is mostly left. :)

Whoa! Did not mean to use the GIANT smiley - sorry - lol!

Google the effects of food dyes... FD&C ..yellow, red, blue, etc. ..and the links to carcinogenic materials, cancer, and so on..

There are alternatives to Kool-aid and the food coloring products you find in your local grocery. They are more expensive, or time consuming ..if you make your own...

..but they are safer for the chin'kids

Wow! Had not heard about that...so thank you very much! But....are there any "flavored" colorings for wood? If you know of any, could you please list brands or sources of obtaining it? Thanks!!!
