Don't know what to do

Okay.....it appears she is coming around nicely....she now likes to have her nose scratched a little when I change her food and water.

I have to agree with peggy. Just let her go for now, there is nothing a vet can do at this point... If you are keeping her, make sure the vet is willing to take on a chin with breeding related problems if needed, but she doesn't need ultrasounds/xrays or anything like that at this point, only if something actually goes wrong.

Is it horrible to not know if I want to keep her yet? Just debating it makes me feel bad!

Not horrible, but if you aren't looking at breeding in the future(and more then likely these guys shouldn't be bred) She may be better off in a home who is slightly more experienced. Just incase god-forbid something goes wrong.

Of course it's not terrible. You have to weigh the pros and cons. That's just being a smart pet caretaker. Nobody will think less of you if you send them to someone with more experience. Nobody will think less of you if you keep them. Had no one offered to help, then we would be here for you. I pointed out what I did because you seemed ambivalent about them in the beginning. This just seemed an ideal solution, as both of the ladies who offered have experience with rescues and with mom's giving birth.

I'm not planning on breeding...really I wasn't even planning on getting another chinchilla especially a female. But she is here now.....I am considering all my options...

I guess taking in one chinchilla opened a door to many more!

I still am terribly nervous about it....I didn't mean to come acrossed unappreciative(sp) I've just never been good at turning my back on an animal or person in need.....not that it is really turning my back. I also find myself thinking that if Chris had been a more responsible pet owner...these cuties wouldn't be in this situation! But can't change that now.....
