I almost never let my dogs into my room where my chins are. My doxie is fine with my chinchillas, and they are fine with him, but my rhodie mix, I'm more than sure she would try to kill them. I went out to grab the shop-vac so I could clean the cage out very well since my boys decided they are BFFs now, and I guess I left the door to my room open a bit and Nola got in there. When I came back I expected to see her attacking my chins through the cage. But what I saw were my 2 boys cuddled up sleeping in their tube, and Nola almost finished cleaning up the poo and hay around the floor. It was almost spotless, wet, but spotless I don't think hay is going to give her an upset tummy, nor is the poo. She is now my chin mess vacuum, and I'm sure she will enjoy that task. Dogs are gross sometimes, but you gotta love them.
