Do rose hips go bad?

I bought some rose hips for my chin a while back - a couple months ago - and some of them don't look so good anymore. He only gets one per day, if that, so I ordered too much. I'm wondering if they go bad? I'm thinking of tossing them and ordering him some more in a smaller batch, but don't want to waste them if they're still good.

I would assume as long as you keep them dry, they'd be ok. They might get stale, but then again I haven't tried biting down on one…LOL.

I think they are good for a long time as long as they are kept dry and in a sealed bag or container.

They go stale after maybe a year or two and the chins may not like them as much. They don't really go bad...they won't hurt a chinchilla if they are older just as long as you don't store them in a damp environment.

Do pet stores sell rosehips or do you have to order them online?

Stores like petco and petsmart don't sell them. I ordered mine online. From rhondaschins.com!

You can find them at Whole Foods, or other health stores like that or like Ashley said, online. A lot of our vendors have them I'm sure.
