Also Killa (heh), just so you dont worry in the future..chins poo all the time even if they arent frightened so it doesnt necessarily mean they are afraid (although it may have been the case in the devil ball)

Samantha...I have noticed that chins that are a little scared or excited machine gun poop so much more than chins that are relaxed and just hanging out. I swear that putting them in the ball makes them go more than at any other time. (When they run in the ball it sounds like one of those little toddlers popcorn toys that they push around the floor on a stick..I don't know the name. Kind of icky.)

I just put the whole bag in the cage, Nicole. The chins form it and fashion it and shred it to their liking! :D

Baby in a bag...

I just had to take a picture and post it here to demonstrate the use of brown paper bags with chins.

This is Skye. He's four months old. Last night I gave him a little paper lunch bag stuffed with hay. Well, he removed the hay and turned it into a chinnie sleeping bag. He didn't chew on the bag at all, just got inside. Last night he was in there scratching and this morning he was asleep inside.

For the price of one big plastic ball you can buy about 2000 brown paper bags and make things for the chins. I was thinking of cutting the bottoms out of the bags and sliding the bags together to form a brown paper tunnel... I just wish I had more time for chinnie crafts!

I didnt know about those balls untill I was on here. I could never get Snowball in it, so it just sat around till I got tired of looking at it and gave it to the ferrets to use as a play toy. It got distroyed within 6 months they likes to push it around and drop it off the shelf and watch it bounce.
I didnt know you could use brown paper bags, I have always used large oatmeal containers for "tubbies" they get all excited when I bring new ones out, I think its because they smell yummy :)

HA! I know that sound of the ball falling! I (accidentally) dropped one a few years ago from about waist height and it shattered. The problem is that I used to get those in with rescues all the time and I ended up with so many of them. They have no real use, do they?

The oatmeal tubes are the best! I wish I could get people to save them for me since I produce one oatmeal tube once every three months or so... :scratchchin: Maybe I should ask my neighbors to save them for me so I can give them to the chins...

You should of seen the look on the ferrets faces they actually looked like they were smiling :). It scared the you know what out of me though.
Oatmeal containers are the best, I empty the oatmeal out into air tight containers and then have the new toy for the chinnies . I also use boxes from Sams club and Capri Sun boxes .

I can just see the smiling ferrets! That's so funny.

We should all collect all the plastic balls we can and do something with them. I don't even know what purpose they would serve...maybe they should be donated to a ferret rescue? Fill them up with things that make noise and let the ferrets throw them around?

I still have our pink ball i dont wanna throw it away i wanna give it to someone but i cant seem to find a small animal rescue to donate it too

Actually those balls are not great for ferrets either, they can get squished.
I have a personal fantasy that a giant ball is made and the person who thought"What a great idea I will put my poor defenseless pet into a ball and let them roll around the house and possibly make it back out alive" in it and watch him roll around the house and keep asking him "are you okay? did you get enought exercise?"
Yeah I am sick!!!
LOL

Thanks for the tips on the paper bags & boxes! I am always looking for a new way to keep my boys busy.
as for the ball, my boy was in it once, the lid popped off and he was running loose in my house...............NEVER again!
I want to sell it at my garage sale, but I am actually feeling guilty of someone putting their pet in it. Maybe I will try to make one of those swings Peggy mentioned???

Oh ok never mind then! Maybe i can take the top and bottom off and use it as a playtime toy

Maybe fill the ball up with water balloons and chuck it with a catapult like they do with old Halloween pumpkins? The ball would keep the balloons protected until that last second when the whole thing explodes.

Oh, I don't know. If the ferrets can't use them and there's nothing else to do with them, maybe smashing them up so they fit in the garbage can is the only thing that can be done?

tkc...maybe you are sick, but that was really funny! They have the human sized version of the ball, but it looks much kinder because it's flexible...maybe they have a hard sided version? I think a google search is in order to see what is out there for human exercise balls! :)

I personally can't help but picture a human exercise ball with some sort of ribbing on all sides, like flexible 'fin' things. Walking on water would be so much fun. :D

I actually was in a big GIANT Blown up ball at a "Get to know you" seminar( how Drunk can we get and roll around in this thing) It was fun untill the Dizzys hit and the day after I had Bruises I didnt even remember getting on my bum.
I was the first one in it so I didnt have to contend with body funk of other people( I really didnt want to get to know any of these people that closely)
They actually put a little water in it to keep you cool and to lubricate you so you dont get plastic burn.
Still it was HOT in there, and I know I sweated and I only went about half the course before I felt like hurling and scrambled out.
Still I definitly understand what our pets feel like in one of them, that was years ago and I dont know if they do that anymore but everytime I see one of those balls I get a little nauseous.
