My was wondering

I wear contacts but I'm thinking about getting colored contacts when I go get new contacts. But I have a question.

I have brown eyes. So I was wondering if anyone else with brown eyes have tried colored contacts. Does it change your eye color at all? If so, which colors?

I've know plenty of people over the years who used colored contacts and they usually do change the color. I know this is a bit stupid, but all the people I know who have only wore contacts to change the color, they needed no vision correction. I didn't even know you could do both. Now I want to try...

My best friend has dark brown eyes and she always wore this bright bright blue contact - I couldn't see a bit of brown shining through. I could never wear colored contacts because I couldn't even get disposables ordered in my prescription due to my astigmatism. That's why I had LASIK done :)

Some brands of contacts and colors are better at changing brown eyes. I have hazel and I used the blue and they worked well for me.

My daughter has brown eyes and bought green contact lenses. It made her eyes look hazel. I agree with a previous poster. Some are meant to drastically change the color of your eyes. Sometimes it doesn't look very natural. My daughter didn't want those. Her contacts just lightened the brown of her eye and it looks very natural.

I have dark brown eyes and have gray Freshlook contacts as well as clear contacts. I feel that my vision is inhibited when I wear the colored contacts though... actually, it's my peripheral vision that's affected due to the color on the lens. They're nice and I only wear them when I go out but not for day-to-day use. I either wear my glasses or my clear lenses for daily use.

I have black brown eyes and tried them a few years ago and I freaked myself out! I looked like a monster, it was really creepy. Like a possessed vampire or something. Maybe they have made them better, or I tried the wrong ones, but I did not like them!

You probably had the ones that totally covered your natural eye color. Those are opaque ones that let none of your natural eye color come through. They do look very 'not natural'. They make ones that are strongly tinted but let your natural eye color come through but change it enough to put a tint of another color over it. Most of these look quite natural

Maybe it's just me, but I always think one looks most beautiful with everything natural....the way God designed it :)

Yes, I agree, too, but it is fun to try different things. After all, this is not permanent like cosmetic surgery! :)

I have brown eyes and have worn regular contacts for over two decades....while colored contact technology has gotten better, they can only do so much with something that sits over your cornea. Colored contacts have gotten better at changing all kinds of eye color, even brown, but they will ALWAYS look weird if anyone is within 10 feet of you because the fake iris color is imprinted on the cotact so it is curved/3-D and does a slight shift and moves back everytime you blink. So to me they have always made the wearer look creepy....and makes me question why someone would be so deperate to change the genetics their parents passed on to them knowing that everyone will know they're fake. my 2 cents.

ps...this is what the eyes of people who wear colored contacts look like to me:
.......... <---me looking at people with colored contacts

Yay for Lasik! I just got it done January 16th, and LOVE IT!!

I think colored contacts look freaky on *most* people. Try them before buying a whole box. See if you like them enough. :)

I had grey ones and green ones before and the green worked the best but I do have hazel brown eyes. One thing I did find though was that I seemed to get eye infections more easily if I left them in too long when I was supposed to change them out ( I can never remeber dates i put them in) so I went back to the clear disposable. I have a bit of a flat cornea so they tended to move on my eyes a bit more than the clear ones.

I have doo-doo brown eyes and have ALWAYS wants blue or green.. I put the color wheel thing up to my eye and it looked aweful so I opted just to get my clear ones..

2 of my friends have med to dark brown eyes and used the light blue colored contacts. To be honest, I thought they looked awful. You really could tell how fake they looked and sort of made them look like they had crazy eyes (the pupils didn't look even, lol). Not only that, for how long I've known them and always seeing them with brown eyes... they just didn't look right with blue eyes. I, myself, have blue hazelish eyes, so I've never tried them but was always curious. Now seeing how horrible they made my friends look, I'm not curious anymore, LOL.

Got mine done back on Oct. 7th and everything was going well at first. I was reading 20/15 the day after and up until last month. Now I'm starting to have a lot of problems with my eyes itching and watering and last month I could only read 20/40. Now, if my eyes get worse, the procedure can be done again, but I don't know if they will get any worse. I'm just angry I spent $5000 and my astigmatism wasn't completely corrected. It's still much better than before because I could barely read 20/200, but with the amount of money I spent, I should have new eyeballs.

Oh wow, I'm sorry! I'm still at 20/20 but have a tiny bit of astigmatism. They told me that it can take 3-6 months to stablize and I'm not even at the 3 month mark yet. If after 6 months I still have astigmatism, I'm going back to a touch up. I got my eyes done at TLC and they have a lifetime guarantee.

ETA: And with having been 20/725 and 20/700, and now being 20/20 with slight astigmatism....I'm happy. LOL
