Good news on the poop. Sounds like things are starting to return to normal. Continue the gas drops for a few days and watch for any further stoppages or changes. If the poop stays soft, then another vet visit might be in order but my guess is it will firm up in a day or two. You probably won't need to feed the critical care but is a good idea to keep some on hand in case something like this happens again.

Throw away the raisins. They may have been the problem in first place and they will do her no good in the long run anyway.

Yayyy for poops!!!!!!! Sorry you are having to go through this with your fuzzy one, been through a very scary nerve racking time with my Roo recently so believe me we understand! Its really hard and stressful when one of your loved ones are ill(yes I mean all not just human). I am soo thankful to everyone on the forum who responded to my dilema and provided suggestions/ideas/alternatives. I will only offer two pieces of advice-my thoughts and prayers for all and 2) don't back off on everything you are doing! It took weeks of force feeds/meds/belly rubs/warm packs/exercise and alot of pure simple blessings for me to get Roo's system back to normal. So just know that you are being thought of through this really scary and uncertain time.

Poop normal or not?

This is his poop from last night. Lighter then usual, I checked this morning and he didn't poop, so I'm going to wait till tonight and see if he poops, he hasn't had any medicine today.

I would agree with keeping him on his medicine. My chin was doing the exact same thing (stretching a ton and not pooping) and they x-rayed her, they said that she had an impaction. They put her on simethicone (baby gas drops) and two other medications. It took a while for the medicine to work, but keeping her health and nourishment to top levels was a great help. Syringe feeding with oxbow critical care did wonders, it is a really great supplement and I highly recommend using that. Keep him well fed. I hope this helps and your chin is well soon!

Progress update: He has eaten literally almost all his pellets, and hay. He has been drinking water, there are lots of poop. None are super small and hard which is good. He is biting wood more, and he sleeps inside his batman cave which he (usually never does) which is odd, he is a little lighter, and just by looking at him looks skinnier, but he is eating and shows definite interest in food, always see him eating and begging for treats. I got critical care yesterday, and tried feeding him, he wouldn't have it, but he did bite the syringe twice so he did get two tastes. I mixed critical care and some herbs and left it in a bowl to see if he would eat it, not sure if he did, but it does look like it was eaten or may be the water shrinks it down after a while, idk. I sprinkled the critical care powder on top of his pellets, and they were gone the next day so I think he ate it. Also I was worried cause the flavor is Apple-Banana. Is this flavor ok for chinchillas? Anyways he seems more pissed lately, but still gentle, biting more food, a little flushed like his ears get pinkish more easily, and a little lighter/skinnier. I obsess over every detail, also his stomach is round and out i think he's just fat cause he's always looked that way but it has gone more in after his bloating went away, he absolutely hates the medicine and i don't think he needs it, i dont want to force feed him when he doesn't need it.

Thats great! Yes the flavor apple banana is okay for chinchillas, some seem to like it more, but my chin was in favor of the original, no flavoring added. I guess it just depends on the chin. If he is eating and drinking normally I don't think you would need to force feed him. That will put him under more stress. If he starts going downhill though and not eating or drinking unfortunately you are going to have to force feed him. I hope he continues to get better!

As for the medicine though, I would contact your vet. The one you have seen will know more about how long to keep him on the medicine, and you could talk to them about taking him off.

Progress update: He is officially perfectly fine, and healthy. He is eating a lot, (like all his pellets), all his hay, drinks water plenty, always shows plenty of interest in food, is VERYY active, poops A LOT (normal healthy poop), runs like crazy, and acts perfectly normal. He is completely off his meds, and doesn't need critical care(it was such a waste of money, i didn't use any of it). may be i was really overreacting. TBH, he did poop when i brought him to the vet, and was eating, i realized during day time when he doesn't move (aka sleeping) he doesn't poop but then at night when he wakes up he starts pooping/eating/drinking like crazy. he's always been like this. i was overreacting, just the stretching worried me, but he hasn't been stretching his stomach in any way, and he's back to his normal self. I cleaned out his whole cage yesterday too. :)
