Yep, the light exercise (walking around) encourages movement of the intestines. This is why you are getting better poops when she moves around. When she sleeps, there is not as much movement of the intestines. The longer the food sits in the large intestines, the more water is drawn out of it. That's why her poops after sleeping are dry.

Thanks! I just afraid if she got dry poops that means she may dehydrated.
my chin sleep in morning when she is not sick, but now, should i really get her out of cage in the morning? at least let her walk for a while?

Exercise is good! If you can get her out of her cage and moving around, that is great!
thanks very much, i hope she can walk for a long time, but she didnt.

Do you offer some alfalfa hay? It's very beneficial, alfalfa also is a very gentle laxative, it contains good amount of magnessium that help relieve constipation by drawing water into intestine and relaxing irritated intestinal walls. Source of 8 naturally occurring digestive enzymes. Hope your chin gets well soon.

i didnt give her alfalfa, because i didnt have one on hand..i will try to get one

my chins poops are a bit hard, and sometimes the shape not oval shap, not sure it mean she is dehydrated or not?
but i gave her water after hand feeding

Water by itself may not be enough. You should try some electrolytes for human babies (it's like Gatorade but for babies). I gave Winnie electrolytes (apple flavor) with a syringe, that way I could make sure that he drank it.

Good luck.

The drier poops are also an indication of dehydration (as well as slow gut motility). If you pinch her skin, does it bounce right back? If it holds the pinched "tent" shape and slowly goes back to normal, she is dehydrated. Pale gums are also an indication of dehydration.

I cannot find pedialyte in Hong Kong, i afraid Gatorade is not good for chin , since i think that is for human..?

i really want her to eat by herself, i afraid she will eat some air if hand feeding by syringe

i cannot really check her gums, because she will struggle a lot
do you mean her skin or her fur? if you mean the fur, i think she is a bit deydrated

not sure becasue of the weather dercease a lot today(13'C in HK today, it's a cold weather here). my chin didn't want to have a walk tonight, when she was out, she just sit there, seems fall asleep, pushed her, and she only walked little, than stayed there and seems fall asleep again...and because of this, i only got 1-2 poops from her, which are small and dry (because she sleep a lot)
those poops in morning and after are better then in the night, at least have some not only 1-2..
already gave her massage few times tonight, and gave her alfafa, but she didn't eat much, i gave her dried crannberry and she like it. but the amount of her poops are not enough, it make me worry

I feed her about 40ml, she is willing to eat and willing to drink, but need me to use hand feeding
and now the problem is she didn't have poops enough
i afraid the poops are in her intestine and cound not come out
i only saw 1 poops this morning, maybe she ate few, but the total amount of poops are still not enough

11am, same process, warm compress , massage, free run and hand feeding
more poops then in 7am this morning, but still little, the shape is ok and not very dry, just a bit smaller then normal,

she pee every time when i feed her, but the amount (i mean in volume?) of her pee is less then before

She needs more fluids. She's not drinking enough on her own to help her pass the poos. You can give her water from a syringe, just be careful--only a drop or two at a time.

Otherwise, you can bring her to the vet, and they can give her injections of fluids, to help hydrate her quickly. The vet may also teach you how to do this at home. In my opinion, she needs fluids NOW.

Thanks for your reply
her poops become better now, she ate some alfafa last night, and many poops came out , not dry and small, i found poops on her bed(a cloth i gave to her) not sure because of the alfafa, or she wake up last night, the days before, i didnt find poops on her bed

if there are many poops came out, will she lose a bit of her weight?

it's public holiday in hong kong now (chinese new year), no vet is avaliable until tomorrow, i've reserved the vet tomorrow 10:30am for her

That's great news that she has pooped! You have done a great job caring for her, it is so hard! Good luck at the vet!

Great job! I think a 'poop dance' is definitely in order. When one of my boy's was sick a while back and I was hand feeding him and he finally started to poop, I literally gathered them all up and counted them. We have eighteen poopies! Only my chin friends could relate, lol.

i collected those poops from 3am ~ 8am this morning, should have around 40~50poops !!!
just re-heat her warm compress bag, found there were 3~4pcs poops on her bed :)
she is now sleeping with her warm compress bag

Yay glad to hear about the 40-50 poops :)
Pedialyte is just a brand, but I'm sure you can find some other brands of electrolytes if you look in the baby food section.
Since your chinchilla is pooping now, maybe you don't need to give her the electrolytes, just for your future reference.

hey hey , suddenly have a problem
yes, there are poops, but 2 of it change to a big size,1 is a longer one, another is a fatter one... i afraid there will be more poops like this,,

Is that because of alfafa?
Do i need give her less alfafa??althought she is not eating many...
or do i need to give her less water?

Alfalfa is good to get the digestive system going, but you have to make sure that your chinchilla is drinking enough water.

i didnt see her drinking any water
So i don't have to cut feeding her water and the alfalfa?
i just afraid if her poops will become soft.
