jeebus!! i know that hoarding is a psychological disorder but i still have to shake my head at this!

i can't watch the video right now, since my kiddo is near me and if she sees it she'll start crying, but i will later.

adult cows do fit through your average doorway. and the sun room could possibly have french doors on it. i see it happening easily.

That's just horrific!!! I can't believe anyone would be so cruel! Or to have dead animals around and ok with it. Who has a cow in the house?

Three people living in this house with over 100 animals. I am aware that hoarding is terrible illness, but how can anyone convince themselves that living surrounded by dead animals is "helping" the animals. Poor critters. I hope they all find good homes after such an ordeal.

I know there's a chinchilla rescue somewhere in LI so maybe that's where they're headed?

He said "a" chinchilla, which doesnt make this any less shocking, but makes me think there must have only been one. I dont get how no one could notice that many animals, especailly livestock. The smell alone! I mean I dont go into my neighbors house on a daily basis or anything but I think I would notice if they have a cow, pig, or goat. Often hard to believe there are people like this.

Hording is grows from loneliness and self worth. Some of these people grow into it. They don't see or smell the odors over time, especially since this woman was 87 years old. It's the young man who moved in with her and, as far as we know, didn't do anything but bury some of the animals in that mass grave.

When I was 14 my parents purchased a house that was called Granny's Pad. A grandson moved in with him grandmother and then moved in all of his druggie friends. She lived in the back bedroom and used the bathroom which was right beside her room. The rest of the house was used as a drug pad and even 10 years after we had purchased it we had people walking in like they owned the place asking for someone who lived there. The basement was covered in matresses and the walls painted black with red ceilings. Twice a week the cops would raid the place and pull out underage teenagers from the basement. This place was so bad that we literally had to go in with a scoop shovel to clean the floors as there was 3 feet deep of garbage. The kitchen was completely ruined and when the water was turned off and the toilet filled up they used the kitchen drawers. This grandmother was almost blind and very hard of hearing. It happens to our elderly so easily - they are lonely - they crave company and will do almost anything for attention.

So I do see how this can happen. It's so hard to see unless you are right there and see what is happening. My question is why neighbors of 22 years didn't check on this woman? If they did, why didn't they do something before it reached this stage. Animals give unconditional love and this woman probably wanted as much love as she could get. She needs our prayers that she will get the help and loving support she so badly needs.
