I'm flat out tired of this. EVERY time Courtney posts, no matter WHAT she is posting about she gets jumped on about not having attended a show. I think she's heard it before...only about a thousand times.

If any breeders don't want to sell to Courtney until she's more able to prove she is serious by going to a show, then don't sell to her.

Honestly, if I were in her position, I would not want to attend any shows. Any responses are less than welcoming and she's asked numerous times in this thread if any specific person would be willing to help her if she were able to attend a show. I don't see any raised hands or friendly responses, just the same thing being repeated over and over again.

Courtney, if you could fly yourself to a show...even if you aren't showing animals...it would be a good start and you would learn a lot. You could even still acquire animals, you would just have to pay to have them shipped to you, just like you're doing now. If you could fly out to California, I'd recommend trying to get to our state show as there is a lot higher quality and more animals for comparison. I'd be happy to show you how to groom and you would be able to learn a lot as well as have an opportunity to buy some animals.

Why aren't you offering her a bunch of animals?

And I think that this statement is not only condescending, but unsupported.

If the quality in California is so wonderfully high how come California is not cleaning up the ECBC National show each year?

I phrased that wrong. The quality at the STATE show would be higher as opposed to a field day. Any sanctioned show would work, but a welcome from a member that attends that particular state show is important. I don't attend the other state shows or I would invite her to ANY sanctioned show.

I love when my posts are skipped over and people hook on to ONE sentence like that will make the rest of what I posted go away. ANYONE can offer support for a new person showing interest in attending a show. Feeling welcome well before the show goes a long way in getting people excited about the show and wanting to go. How many people go to a show JUST for the show and not to see old friends and have a good time?

I don't have a bunch of animals, Nicole. I'm still a college student and my numbers have been lowered drastically recently due to selling certain lines. I have a total of 27 breeding females. I'm personally not going to ship out 2 animals as I'm sure others would not.

I am also a college student, with a family, chins, horses, and other things as well. I run about 70 females. I'm not a huge rancher either.

I read the whole post, and I've talked to people who have encouraged her to go to shows, as well as others who were put of by some of her practices.... I've driven over 14 hrs each way to shows, the nearest show to me is 5 hrs. I know it's not always easy, but it's a part of having a quality herd. If you can't see what's out there, and you can't have your animals judged, then you're just guessing.

She has been on the forum breeding for what 2 or 3 years now with this name and the other name, does not take advice when given on breeding so people are tired of her same old excuses why she can't go to a show or actually learn about breeding right. She is not a newbie to breeding. I am sure if she went to a show people would welcome her, never heard of anyone who was not welcome not matter what the past was. Even with my reputation and those that hated me when I went I still felt welcome by the others.

I'm going to close this thread as it is going nowhere and is way off topic.
