Hey guys! So my chinchilla Roxy started acting “lazy” about 2 days ago. At first I thought my room might’ve been overheating and that’s why she’s less active. However, it didn’t stop there : her droppings started getting smaller, hamster size or tiny balls even. Today I’ve decided to take her to the vet and noticed she had white discharge on her lady parts. The vet prescribed antibiotics, enrofloxacin, and critical care food. After the appointment she ate a whole syringe worth of the mixture but I haven’t seen any dropping since then. She chews on her hay and drinks water occasionally but she’s just laying down in her cage(I blocked off the levels so she doesn’t jump around and equipped the first floor with food and water). I’m a college student and my classes just started, so I scheduled another appointment Thursday with a chin specialist but meanwhile I am worried sick. The first vet said to monitor her for 24-48 hours but I can’t sit around and wait. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Unless the vet said otherwise you actually should be trying to get her moving, running and jumping around actually helps stimulate the gut and get things moving. Did the vet think there might be a blockage or gas in addtion to an infection? because that it what it sounds like to me. This page might help Constipation

The vet never mentioned activities. If I try to catch her Roxy almost gets back to her normal self. They said gas/constipation are unlikely and that the most concerning thing is infection. She had some droppings when I checked at 5 am today which is a good sign. I’ll read through the thread, thank you!
