Hey everyone,

I was kind of thinking of making an artful chinchilla care book, with lots of good resolution, nice photos and correct information on how to properly care for a chinchilla. I'm thinking that the book would be about 10x8 inches. The pricing would be about $23 for a softcover, $34 for a hardcover with a dustjacket, or $36 for a hardcover with printed cover (imagewrap), though the price would drop if I chose to use lower quality paper I would also be looking for some good images of chinchillas of various fur colors. If you've got some you'd like to include, could you e-mail them to me in the largest size possible?

Is anyone interested?

Honestly....................if MY chin or chins were in the book, I would of course buy it! But if not, I am not really sure, i guess depending on the price. i voted yes with the cheaper paper option.
i did buy the calendar even tho my boys were not in it because i wanted a chinchilla calendar and there is not much of a market for them.

We were going to write a book on chinchilla care with a health section, etc., but none of the publishers want to mess with it. They think the ones available already are good enough and don't feel there's a market for it.

As far as would I buy it? No. I have books from very experienced, long-time ranchers and chinchilla vets for my references. I would like to see a good chinchilla book available, but just offering it here isn't going to do much good. We've got the forum. It's the people who buy books in a pet store that need it more than anybody here. Plus, you can get a book like "After 40 Years" by Alice Klein for the price you are offering, but I wouldn't count on getting anywhere near that for an "unknown person" writing the book. That's why the pet store ones sell so well. They are cheap.

Also, I would want to be sure that the person putting the information out there had actually had some sort of experience with what they were writing about, as well as citing where they got their information if they didn't have actual experience with it.

Thanks for the feedback you two! :) Tunes, did you look at Blurb.com at all? That's were I was checking out, and it's sort of a make-your-own, and they just print and sell it for you. It was rather pricey, but the books come out looking so nice. I was thinking for more of a gift/coffee table item.
