Chin ate bubble gum

Hey everyone, this may be an odd question but I figured I would ask it anyways to see what you all thought. My chinchilla Apollo just found a stick of gum and before I could get to him to stop him he had eaten about 1/4-1/3 of the piece of gum. I was planning on waiting until tomorrow or so to see if he was still eating/pooping regularly but I wanted to see if you all knew anything about chinchillas eating gum.

Is it regular gum or sugar free? Does it contain Xylitol? Xylitol has been fatal to many dogs, I don't know what the affect is on chins. If it contains Xylitol, I would get the chin to a vet to see what they suggest. If the gum does not, I would keep an eye on him to make sure he's eating and pooping ok.

It's sugarfree although I don't see anything on the package about xylitol. All it says is that it contains soy lecithin and phenylalanine.

I just did a little research into the ingredients of the gum and so far I haven't seen xylitol listed, so thats a bit of a relief. I guess I'll keep an eye on him the next couple days.

On a side note, do you have any idea on how long it could take to work its way out?

Sure, I got this from the wrigley's website. The gum is the Rain flavor of 5 Gum.

INGREDIENTS:
MADE OF: SORBITOL, GUM BASE, GLYCEROL, MANNITOL, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, LESS THAN 2% OF HYDROGENATED STARCH HYDROLYSATE, ASPARTAME, ACESULFAME K, SOY LECITHIN, BHT (TO MAINTAIN FRESHNESS), COLORS (YELLOW 6, YELLOW 5 LAKE, BLUE 1, BLUE 1 LAKE). PHENYLKETONURICS: CONTAINS PHENYLALANINE.

Sorbitol is the sweetener. Sometimes it has a laxative effect. I would just keep an eye on Apollo.
