I just got back from the ESHS with Sophie and Canoe (tons of fun btw!) and Canoe had gotten carsick on the way to the hotel and then again on the way home. It looked like he had vomited up pretty much everything he ate last night plus a little bile.

It's been about 45 minutes since he last puked and he's been in his cage, but he is totally uninterested in water. He got pretty over-excited at the show, so I'm letting him chill and nap in his blankets, but should I try to encourage him to drink something? I am mostly worried about dehydration, since he wouldn't drink at the show either.

When I brought my boys home, one puked the whole way, foamy nasty puke. He has never had a problem since, and never suffered any ill effects from the ride. I had to bring Mr. Fluffy to the vet a few times after that, and he never got sick again. I don't know what it was about that first ride, maybe that is was longer, about an hour rather than the 30 minute vet visit? I don't know why he got better but I did give him probiotics in his chicken so maybe that helped? I don't think it would hurt future visits, a day before and the day after and for 3 more days is what I do for my chins and hedgies for any stressful event. RIP Mr. Fluffy.

Mmm yes the length could have had an effect - it was about 3 hours each way. :) It looks like he's had a couple milliliters of water now, so I was just unreasonably panicky. Better safe than sorry though, right?

Here is a picture of the guy in question as a tiny baby!
