We have four chins who get out for 30 minutes each night. We close the bedroom doors and they have free run of the house. Although this has been fun (around 10 years) our home is due for an update and before we replace things we have to confine them to some degrees. We have the double Critter Nation cage.

I would love to see pictures of others setups. Blocking them off is tricky because we have large openings and not letting them out is not an option. Maybe adding onto their cage or attaching a play area? I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you

I had someone build a gate made out of hardware cloth and wood. The cloth is over the wood from inside the area, preventing the chins from chewing it as the wood used is unsafe. There's also a smaller version of the gate at the back of the room, which stops them from chewing the wall if they crawl under the cage which makes it difficult to monitor what they do while underneath. This is also wrapped in hardware cloth. The rubber-looking trim material stops them from chewing the bare wall underneath (as the house I have is old and needs plenty of renovations, so the room doesn't have proper trim) and they almost never attempt to chew it. If they do, I stop them immediately. They also never try and chew at the caulking that seals the trim on the left. I let my two boys out when I can, and when I have the energy to watch over them (one of them is very hyper and gets into a lot of mischief) which is about four times a week, usually at 10 PM. They have a blast roaming the entire area. You can buy a metal playpen and put it around the cage to make a play area, just make sure the bar spacing isn't too wide. This is my set-up (excuse the bare looking cage, they're getting a major renovation in early 2020)

You can add a gated playpen or do what I do. I get flattened cardboard boxe
