Our chin is around 3 months now. She is a royal stinker for sure! She's absolutely hilarious and has been really friendly. I could not be happier with how she's adjusting.
We've had her at our home for about 3 weeks. She is in a two story Ferret Nation. Clearly she is becoming very comfortable in her surroundings as yesterday she managed to get out of her cage, through the bars. I've bought some hard cloth to wrap the cage until she's bigger. Please tell me that she will get big enough to not fit through the bars! I still can't believe she squeezed her ratty little self out, but I'm 100 % sure she did. I saw her trying to stick her head through the bars but didn't think she could actually do it.
After my daughter calmed down, we found her right away under the bottom shelf eating hay. She came to us as soon as she saw we had treats.
Here's some more pics of her and her cage. I think she got out of the space on the inside edge of the doors. It's just a fraction wider than the other spaces.

How old is she? She will definitely get bigger to not escape, as those cages are well used by various members here with no issues. Are you sure the cage wasn't possibly left open? From my experience if they try to stick their head through, they'll keep going til they're out regardless if you're in the room or not, as my baby Noon showed me when she got here.

She will be too big to fit when she gets a bit older :)).

Just as a side note, if she is that young, and chins are silly when they are little, you should give some cinsideration to more shelving to help with bad jumps.

She is cute, btw!

That is SUCH a nice cage... and such a cute girl!! Like everyone said, she should get bigger...

She has more shelves now. I didn't like that she had too much space to fall. They came in two shipments, so we set up the first day and got the second set the next. I had read about falls, so we were cautious.
I'm pretty sure she pushed her way out. Sarah says that she was watching her play while sitting on the bed, and she was definitely in the cage with the doors shut. I saw her a few days earlier trying to shove her head through one spot where the bars were just a bit farther apart. So until I got the wire on the doors, she's been supervised. Sarah said she tried to push through this afternoon and couldn't fit this time. She actually looks like she had a growth spurt during the night.
I don't know what I expected totally. But I didn't expect her to be so determined to do something or be quite so clever! She's a smart little devil! I just don't want anything to happen to her!

Chins have great memories. With Noon, I wrapped wire around the areas of the cage that were bigger temporarily. It was like that for about 3 months until she was too big to get through the part of the cage. As soon as I removed the wire, she was trying to get out of those exact spots as before, except by that point she couldn't. :D

They are little stinkers! I have a couple that learned how to bite open the latch of their cages and I had to reinforce the latch so they couldn't get out!
