I love the way you write, you are very expressive. We call Tibbit a King also, your guy is adorable.
I wouldn't use that hay thing myself. It seems possible that he could hop on top, his feet (hind ones esp) could slip through, then the thing rolls twisting and trapping his hind ankles

Yeah, I see what you mean - I thought of that also, but he seems to have no interest in jumping on it, just pulling things out of it. Just to be on the safe side though, what would be the best thing for him? I just don't like the idea of "Ruler of all he surveys" eating dirty ole' sat on hay, that's for people like us paupers!! I've tried a hanging hay container - that went over like a lead balloon, too much work! All that reaching up! I tried a coconut shell half (ok, I even considered a silver platter - befitting of his status as the hierarchy of this house), but he seems more interested in the scattering than the eating. I figured that giving him a hay box would have the same outcome. He deserves the best, he's such a sweet little fuzz butt!

We like to use a soup can, make sure the edges are smooth and rub sandpaper over any metal where the lid came off. I use Elmers glue to cover the outside with matching fleece. You can cut a strip of matching fleece like 1 inch by 12 inches and use that to tie the can to the cage bars.

Camphor chins makes a fleece hay holder that you can stuff that hangs onthe side of the cage - you have a ton of available play space in that cage! You could easily put more items in there...
