So today I decided to read while Tribble jumped around our bathroom. I sat down on the raised bit of floor before the shower and started to read. Soon enough, Tribble was over on my lap, trying to chew on my book. When this failed, she snagged and ran off with my bookmark. [The packaging for hook earrings.] So, I got it back from her and sat back down to the book, putting the edge of the bookmark in my mouth this time. A few minutes later, she was on my shoulder trying to snag the bookmark. I tilted my head away, and she followed along my elongated neck. I rotated my head and she shifted to the other shoulder by running across my collar bones. This tug-of-war and keep-away continued for awhile, sometimes having her go behind my neck, or even jumping on my head and down to my other shoulder to try to get the bookmark.
Eventually, she lost interest in it and started to do her little scratch grooming and love bites on either sides of my neck, using the same ways to get from shoulder to shoulder that she used with the bookmark to get to the other side of my neck to groom. Then she decided, "Hey, there's a little opening!" That 'opening' was the top of my tanktop. She tried to slide down, only to get caught on my bra. So she scooted back out and hopped onto my tummy to chew on my bellybutton piercing through my shirt, and attempted to chew on some of my other piercings hiding under my shirt as well.
Two hours passed to quickly, and I had only read five pages. Tribble was obviously tired as she laid down on the chair across from me. I took her back to her cage to chill on her chinchiller. [I checked her ears, they were red, but they weren't hot. Still, she was tired and appreciated it.]
Moral of the story: Chinchillas don't like you reading when they want your attention, and they're much more entertaining than a book anyway!
