I just got home about an hour ago from school and I checked on the chins because it is a hot day today. Everyone seemed fine and I wanted to put a bridge I made in Bryson and Dylan's cage. I pulled them out and put them in a carrier and went to put the bridge in. I saw something weird on one of the shelves and I looked closer and it looks like relatively fresh blood. I immediately looked all over both of them. Blowing into every square inch of fur to see if someone had been attacked, didn't see anything. Checked out their feet, didn't see anything. Looked in their mouths, nothing. Looked at poop, nothing. Did a hair ring check, nothing. Nothing anywhere.

I'm not sure what happened. It is definitely blood and I put my finger on it and it's still moist but almost dried, and it's only on that shelf in like 6 drops.

I'm watching both of them and they are cuddled up and grooming each other.

I called my mom and asked if she heard anything like fighting or anything out of the ordinary coming out of my room today and she said no and that she had checked on them several times throughout the day.

I'm so confused. Is there any place else I should look? I'm really concerned.

Thanks

Sometimes they will cut their paw pads just a little and there will be a small amount of blood yet you can't even tell there is a cut. Most of the time when that happens it's because someone has a very very insignificant scratch from their ledges or something.

I wouldn't worry. Look around on the front paws, as well. It's probably just a little cut. Those bleed like crazy but heal quickly.

I'm sorry you found that. I know that every now and then I see the same thing and it always freaks me out. They'll be alright. :)

I rechecked them and I found the problem.

Dylan has a small amount of dried blood on his back foot. His pad is very flat and cracked open.

Is that something to be worried about? Anything I can put on it?

Worst case it's a pressure sore; it happens from time to time. Just keep it moistened and clean and if you have a grass mat or fleece for the floor it could help as well. If you have any pumice/lava rock ledges you may want to temporarily remove them.
