Baseball as a chew toy?

I play baseball, and I was looking around my garage for good chew toys. I came across a baseball, and I feel like it would be perfect for him to gnaw on. What do you guys think?

Please don't use baseballs! Leather, yarn, rubber is all bad for a chin and can cause impaction if swallowed.

ETA: good chew toys for chins is prepared wood sticks, and chin safe wood toys.

How about using the baseball bat? hahaha they'd probably enjoy it if it was made of pine and had the coating and stuff removed. Then again, just buying a piece of pine is a lot cheaper than a baseball bat...
