Hello everyone.
I think I was a member way back when on Chins n Quills, not sure if I ever posted but it's been a very long time since I had chins.
But anyway, my name is Melodie and I live in the NW part of Iowa, pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I wanted to get back into chinchillas and I am really rusty so I've been reading up on them again.
My friend had bought 4 chinchillas at an auction because she wanted a beige male as a companion for her grey male, so she had to buy them all to get him. Well they were all supposed to be male but one of the greys ended up being a female and had a pair of beige babies not long after she got them.
A couple months later she decided she didn't want any of them anymore (her original grey lives with her mom now) so she sold them all and offered the mom and one of the babies to me so I bought them from her. The baby was supposed to be a male and he was nearing three months of age so I got some cages from another friend of mine and put them each in their own cage (I hated the one I got with them) only to find out he's a she and the mom had another pair of beige babies 2 or 3 days later.
They will be 11 weeks old on Wednesday and have been away from mom for two weeks and they're doing very well so now I get to find them new homes. I ended up naming the one from the first litter Mokey (after the Fraggle) but the mother doesn't have a name yet. I'm terrible with names these days. Heck I adopted a dog a month ago and he didn't have an official name for 3 weeks.
