Sounds like a kids book, doesn't it?

Riddle me this: Alexander was on two kinds of antibiotics for ten days after I got him. During that whole time, he ate like a pig and never had even the slightest tinge of green to his poop. I was giving him probiotics as well, of course. We finished up the antibiotics on the 6th, and I gave him probiotics for an extra day just in case. This morning I get up and check on him, and he had created a lovely sea of forest green poop throughout his cage! Why would he be getting green poop NOW? He also didn't eat as much last night as I've come to expect from him. I did give him a bit of a scare last night when I went to get his food and water dishes out. He was on his wheel and didn't hear me coming I guess (even though I started talking to him and turned on the light well before I got there). When I stuck my hand in to get his dishes, he did this crazy huff/pop/growl thing and came charging off his wheel like he was going to attack me. Halfway to my hand he just balled up and started hissing. Could being startled like that cause green poop?

I wonder if he's just a creature of habit, and the abscence of medicine has him feeling a little confused. I wonder if the green poop would go away if you syringed him another liquid, like really diluted water? Maybe he liked the routine of the medicine, and that disturbance is what's causing the green poop?

His tummy and intestinal tracts probably got used to the antibiotics and the probiotic. He may simply need to adjust to normalcy again. On the other hand he has probably witnessed first hand how to manipulate Mom thanks to his sister Phoebe. After all, she has it down to an art.

I wonder if continuing the probiotic would help. You said you finished a/bs and gave the probiotic for an extra day(yesterday) and today he has green poops? Maybe he needs that extra bit of probiotic.

Oh yea! When i read the title of your thread I definitely thought of a childs book before I opened it!

Lord help me if they BOTH do it!

I bought some banana baby food earlier in the week that I was going to give him today as a treat for being so good while being medicated... maybe I'll mix the probiotics into that and give it to him. That way he gets his probiotics and his "mommy time". A few more days of probiotics won't hurt him I'm sure!
