She may very well have been in the beginning stages of bloat and taking away the fruit juice (which can ferment) was what brought her back from the edge of full blown issues. I only ever used the fruit juice mix after the kits are born, and only for a day or two. Nowadays, I don't use it at all because I have no need. I only use it for first time moms or mom's who seem to be a little slow with the milk production. Taking it away is most likely what stopped the diarrhea as well.

Keep a close eye on her. Make sure she's eating adequately and drinking plain water normally. Watch those stools and her urine output.

Also, you might want to tell your friend, after an emergency happens is a poor time to find an emergency vet. One should be lined up before your chin needs it.

Not much of a difference, a few grams. The one that is losing weight now is the bigger of the two, by two grams. There was a four or five gram difference. I will take the gainer out. For how long?

Juice was not used until the after the kits were born, and was used because there was an initial loss of weight after the first night. It was removed at the first sign of the diarreah, and I am thinking that it was at least a little effective, because the smaller of the two had a two gram increase while the other lost a few grams. She has been eating and drinking (plain water).

I think she had an e-vet that saw chins, but he was not in as of last night. That was the reasoning for calling around into the wee hours.

Thanks for everybody's input. I'll be keeping an eye on her tonight. I'll keep you guys posted.

My apologies CM - I thought you meant she had been on the juice for a while.

She seems to be doing much better, as do the kits. Their weights are both up with almost 24 hours of no handfeeding! Thanks to everyone for their input!

I am very glad to hear she's doing well, nursing her kits, and that whatever happened wasn't more serious.

Congrats on a job well done. :)
