I found it helpful to hold their heads in place. Also, dont worry about hurting them while feeding, i had the exact issues with eating as you and i just wrapped tighter. She also preferred to eat at a 30 degree angle. Good luck!

You're very welcome!

Since Dink was on the antibiotic, you should use probiotics for at least 2 weeks now. Probiotics help the body defend itself, increase nutrient absorption, heal constipation by nourishing the beneficial intestinal flora, can block the adhesion of dangerous bacteria to intestinal cells. You should use multi-billion-count formulas.

When antibiotics are used, probiotics should be given 3-4 hours before/after giving the antibiotic to make sure probiotics have time to attach to intestinal cells.

Please PM or email ([email protected]) your address and I'll send out a sample of EFL on Monday. EFL contains 13 hardy species of beneficial cultures including soil-based probiotics that have the ability to implant in any environment (the hardy probiotic strains are resistant to heat, cold, stomach acid, ascorbic acid, etc.). The formula provides chins with all the nutrients and secondary elements they need to recover.

I took Dink to VCA (pet ER) this AM because his tummy was very swollen, hard + he has been lying on his side, always right after he eats.
They dont think its bloat, they dont know whats wrong with him. I can take him home or check him in for a few days. I can have more X-rays done or not. They may be able to see something after test/x-rays they may not. Im very frustrated!
The Dr didn’t hear the noise in his belly *shaking a can of soup*. I could hear it almost instantly when I checked on him in the er. Im going to get him at 4:30, they said I could (not should) keep him there overnight, Ill decide after I see him, after I make sure she hears what I have been hearing in him tummy since Thursday night. He lost 10 more grams since last visit but she didnt seem worried about it. His tummy is so big & round but he lost weight…. This vet has never seen Dink so she doesnt know what his normal tummy feels like. His reg Dr is on vacation & the other place I take him to cant do sonograms…
Im going to bring some of your suggestions with me, thank you so much, you guys have been way more help than all the vets I have taken him too.
Pls keep Dink in your thoughts, say a little prayer. Ill keep you posted

I am shocked that any vet would think that an animal that has an extended tummy does not have a very serious issue. I almost get the impression they are a little too casual about his condition.

He may have fluid built up in/around his tummy. An x-ray will tell a vet if it is gas or fluid. I'm sorry you can't seem to find a vet that is more qualified to take care of Dink.
