raffle/door prizes

I'm bringing a basket of goodies (hammock, chube, rose hips, chew toys etc) to be raffled off with things made by Heather Stokes http://www.yummychinchillatoys.com/
and I've also got a bunch of scented candles that I'm bringing as door prizes (like chocolate covered strawberry and cinnamon buns). I'm a sucker for everybody at my office that has kids that sell stuff and one of the things I always buy is candles, so I have a bunch that I will never get to use!! Everybody likes scented candles

I'm actually secretly hoping we get a small amount of snow while there. I haven't seen snow in over 15 years.

I'm always ready for snow! Maybe we can rent a snow machine?

The one time we got snow since I have been in FL I made a snowball and kept it in my freezer for 6 years. Haha. I then moved and it melted before I was able to put it in the new freezer. Don't get me wrong, I don't want bad weather, just like an inch or two. I don't think I could safely drive in anything more.

What is a good time for people there to watch/purchase to show up?

Show starts at 10:00, so 9:00 to 9:30-ish maybe?

The best time is as soon as they open the hall up. That will give you plenty of time to talk and meet others along with looking over the animals. You will also be able to see how different people groom and learn about how the show is run. If you wait until close to show time people sometimes are running behind on getting their animals and paperwork done so they are less likely to spend much time with you.

Note to I-40 Travelers in the vicinity of Asheville, NC: Both directions of I-40 are closed between Exit 20, West of Asheville in North Carolina, and Exit 421 (I-81 Interchange) East of Knoxville in Tennessee due to a rock slide at mile marker 2.6 on I-40 in North Carolina. The road is not expected to reopen for several months. You can drag your route to avoid this section of highway or use the official NCDOT Detour: Motorists traveling on I-40 West are advised to take Exit 53B, I-240 West. Follow I-240 West to Exit 4A, I-26 West. Follow I-26 West (a North Carolina Scenic Highway) to I-81 South. Take I-81 South and follow back to I-40, Mile Marker 421, in Tennessee. This route is 53 miles longer than I-40. We also recommend visiting the NCDOT Travel site for additional information. For your safety, always obey local construction and detour signs.

This is correct, when 40 splits the routes to Asheville are closed off. If you go from Knox to Johnson City, TN (81 to 26 to 40) the trip is only about 15 minutes longer.

And the biggest word of warning: be careful of NC drivers!

almost two weeks away! time is flying fast. hopefully i can get this art work done in time. theres just a whole list of things that need to be done before the show! getting excited!!!

If anyone happens to have a flying saucer or chin spin they would like to sell(new or used) and can bring it to the show, PLEASE pm me. My lovelies have gotten soo chunky that my homemade wheel isn't wide enough for them to run on!!!lease:

Hm.. It's just over 2 hours away from me. I would really only be going just to shop for supplies, so for me it would really depend on how many vendors are planning on being there and the variety. I've never been to a show before so I'm not sure what is typical. The possibility of asking for a big ol' bag of dust without a huge shipping charge (which would last over a year, haha) is kind of tempting by itself, though.

But just so I'm clear anyway- you don't need to be a member of anything just to show up and walk around/shop, right?

Has anyone heard back from Shoots on their orders? I've emailed and called twice and haven't gotten a response. I really want a bag of dust.

You don't have to be a member to come to the show, but you still have to pay to get in. It's $5 per family to get into the show if you're not showing. As far as I know, the only two who are setting up things to sell are Linda Lucas and myself. The Shoots carry dust, feed, hay, bottles, collars, dust bins, etc if you need them.

Crysta - Call Ralph and Barbara. They can get behind on their e-mail, so I always call if I need anything.

they emailed me back today. it is faster to call them specially if your looking for a certian chinchilla.
