    Rabbits and Chinchillas

I have had both at the same time. I'll second everything Amethyst said and when I followed that, I had no problem with mine.

Anyone heard of or used this Chinchilla seller?

Kind of hard to comment as it doesn't say who or where they are. Most people know breeders by name and I checked everywhere and couldn't find one.

    Help new member with chinchilla

Some breeders were in the habit of giving raisins to chins at shows because chins would stop eating and become constipated. I think that trickled down to pet owners.

Goodbye Wicket, Until We Meet Again

I'm so sorry for your loss, especially since it was so abruptly and without warning. I hope you are able to get another chin or two to share your space with. I can't imagine life without them.

    Help new member with chinchilla

Is it possible that they got into something that could have poisoned them? Could they have chewed an electrical cord? Did he fall? What's the temperature like in their area? Can you get (or make) food that can be syringe fed? I need a little more information to try and pinpoint what's...

Chinchilla had surgery and refusing critical care

You can also add a little bit of canned plain pumpkin for flavor. Some of my picky eaters really liked that.

    Greetings and new owner questions

It can take months to get them settled in enough to handle them. With them being so young, they should acclimate more quickly than an older chin that hasn't been handled; however, all chins are different. I tell people to expect "chinavision." They are awesome to watch but not necessarily...

    Chinchilla with fractured pelvis!!! Help!!

She needs to be confined at all times. Do not let her out. It will take at least 6 weeks and she will hate you, but the more she jars it the less likely it is to heal. Agree with Amethyst. She needs to be fed if she's not eating. It can heal. I've had it happen before with a chin. You...
