    dogs liked

I'm an animal trainer in training...what is the main reason for using that? I don't like the "tradinal" training methods and go off a more science based training. Do you live on property with no fence or don't want your pooch jumping over your fence?

    What's new?

Roo is doing great! She has a chinnie buddie that she loves and some new toys. We recently got a another puppy (rescue like our dog and Roo) so most of my time has been dedicated to training her. She and Roo are getting along pretty well and Leia is much calmer around her. (I have trained...

    The Debate On Playtime

Yeah honestly it's really up to the owner. I let Roo out whenever I can and she is out usually 30 min-1 hour.she loves coming out to play cuz she is able to explore and get stimulation. This helps to prevent your chinnie getting tired. The more they are our the more stimulated they will be

Chinchilla head tilt and walking in circles

I wouldn't put him down. My bird has the same thing and she is still going on strong. She learned how to eat, drink, and fly with her head tilted. I would give him ti to heal but he might be permanently like that

Help Please!! We did not know we had a male chin

Yeah what everyone is suggesting is good. I wouldn't try neutering due to the danger. If you get a female I will be happy to be a home to her if you are located close by.

    Chinchillas in earthquakes

Hi we've been having a lot of earthquakes recently and their aftershocks. The animals haven't really reacted to them but the recent Aftershock was strong enough to knock a plant off the window sill. I've been worried about Roo and what would happen if there was a strong one. Do you know any...

    Chinchilla acting odd

so update: Its the next day and she is fast asleep again. Her ears are nice and cool and so is the rest of her body. She is no longer on her cooling stone and my roo, is nice and cool for her. It wasn't until like 1 am that she decided to jump on me and hang out. Before that she wanted nothing...

    Funny Training Behavior

Oh my gosh that is adorable!. Chins are very smart and know when they should be given a treat. My Roo just starting sniffing and nibbling fingers looking for it after the trick.

Chinchilla is barely chewing on toys

When you said chinchillas can eat vine what do you mean by that? I bought roo a new toy but I realized that it didn't say what type of wood it was. It says its a vine ball but i have no clue if i should give it to her.

Chinchilla is barely chewing on toys

Yeah I got my chin from a neglected home and immediately had her checked out. Chins do have preferences on wood. For example, Roo, and most chins, loves willow. apple orchard is her least favorite. Many chins like willow cuz its a sweeter wood but you can try pine, bamboo, pumice stones etc.

    Chinchilla acting odd

So for the past day or 2 Roo has been acting a little weird. Just not very active when I come over to pet her. Its 10:30 at night and she is fast aslpee which is very odd. She has been on her cooling stone but it did't get that hot today (68 degrees was the high) and i had my window open and...

    Green Poop

It just occured to me that she is on Kaytee clean and cozy at the moment. We order fleece Tomorrow. But since she does eat some of that when bored that might not be digesting right

    Green Poop

I am still giving her oxbow essentials food an hay. I give her tap water. Since her treats arn't healthy I maybe giver her one once a week, if so Fridays. No her poop is just the same but green. Its not unusually smelly. I honestly thought that maybe its because of her hay. She has been eating...

    Chinchillas in Hot Climates

Yeah I got my Roo in January so I haven't experienced keeping her cool in LA either. She seems to be doing ok. I have the fan on all the time but I guess that won't work. I am recently opening my windows especially at night. It is nice and cool outside but not too cool or breezy. I keep the...

    Green Poop

Hi I have noticed earlier today that her poop has been green. But it isn't runny or diarrhea. It looks and feels the same, but its green. It looks as if she ate a bunch of hay and pooped it out. Just want to make sure she isnt dying or anything XD

    Oxbow Natural Science Treats

Yeah Oxbow is great. I actually used to trust Kaytee till I found out how unsafe their stuff is. Now Oxbow is the majority of her food and toys that she consumes. I have Oxbow essentials for food. Oxbow Western Timothy Hay and Orchard grass hay, her grass woven huts are all Oxbow. I think the...
