    Secret Santa this year?

I was wondering back in September when Stacey would usually write the first thread explaining everything. I know everyone is busy so I didn't really ask about it. I did loved doing it though!

    Chinchilla bed

It doesn't look to be safe, honestly. I have some slippers that look to be made out of the same fabric. The only fabric that is safe for chins is the anti pill fleece. In a perfect world, if your chin NEVER chewed on the fabric and only slept in there, it would be fine... but we all know we can...

    New Cage for Eddie!

Aww! Eddie looks like he's having tons of fun! :)

Why does my chinchilla stay on the bottome of her cage?

Has Kiwi ever seen the cat? Maybe she is really stressed out by the cat. My first thought was injury of some sort and she can't get up on her shelves.. but I don't know. I agree with obcsed. I might take her to the vet if conditions don't improve soon, because she might be injured? I hope she...

    Ferret nation top level?

Some people do it, but that is a long way down if a chin falls. Most people get a huge hammock and put it through the middle just in case.

How can I train my Chinchilla to let me pick him up.

Truth is, he may never like being picked up. Most chins don't. An easy way to transport your chin to play is to use the dust bath container. He will hop right in there and you can carry that to your play area. It's a good way to get him back too :) Chinchillas all have different personalities...

My chins ears get red and he becomes lethargic

How often does this happen? I know when Tribble gets warm (either from playing or whatever) he will go and sit on his cooling tile. He just sits there and doesn't really move until he cools down. Is this what you mean? It's normal, he is just trying to cool himself down. Do you have a cooling...

    took Chinn to the vet

Oh wow! He might be okay, but I agree with others. Lots of fresh air. I hope he is alright! So sorry this happened!

Chinnie Buddies-Do they work for you?

Tribble loves his Cuddlebuddie! He sleeps with it almost everyday. It's so sweet :)

Christmas is Coming...Anyone Want to "be Santa"?

I sent a request to join! I wouldn't mind helping a child have a good Christmas. I have done the Salvation Army trees before and really enjoy doing it!

    Trick or Treating, chinnie style

oh my gosh! I love how the dark one just stands up so politely waiting for his treat! Such good manners!

    Why give few treats?

Yep, I agree with Ann. My Chichi is only 560g. She eats, drinks and poos good. She has always been small. I switched to Kleenmama's hay and she is gaining weight because she enjoys the hay a lot more. I'm hoping she puts on more weight. :) Her kids, weigh anywhere from 725-740. You can so see...

What hay brand do you use?

It's pretty normal for chins to be picky and only eat what they want. I'd give them less or preferably switch to a different brand. I was using Oxbow and some Kaytee and they were eating it, but there was a bit of waste. They weren't really crazy about it. I bought some from Kleenmama's and...

    A milestone for a molar-less malo chin

This is a very interesting case indeed! I am so glad to hear your chin is doing so well! Thanks for sharing!

    Dandelion drops

Bad. Too much sugar. Stick to rosehips, plain cherrios, maybe a little bit of plain shredded wheat. As with any treat, use sparingly- like twice a week at the very most. They don't really need treats though, only fresh water, fresh hay, good quality pellets and stuff to chew! Apple sticks are...

Making chew toys ? Im lost

You usually just bend the wire (with pliers) around to keep the pieces from falling off. You kinda create a loop and that way nothing falls off and you can attach a clip and then attach it to the cage. It's kinda hard to explain. If you look at pictures of toys for sale on this board, you can...

So sorry for your loss. RIP Alfie :(

    New female

She could very well be pregnant since she was housed with a male. You'll want to watch her closely for a while. Gestation for chinchillas is around 111 days. If she's pregnant, she could technically give birth any day now. You'll want to make sure you have a way of baby proofing the current cage...
