Ferret nation top level?

I have a FN cage, but was thinking about taking out the top level pan and just having little ledges? Is this safe to do?

Some people do it, but that is a long way down if a chin falls. Most people get a huge hammock and put it through the middle just in case.

As long as there are hammocks and/or ledges to break a fall, it should be fine. There may even be some pics in the Ferret Nation cage thread.

I like the middle level, exactly for the reason above. If they were to fall, that would be a long way down. I've seen people open them up and use the entire cage without the middle though.... just depends on your preference.

Our Amy fell and broke her arm (she's a tripod now) so we have the middle levels in both chins cages for safety. I don't want to chance another injury.
