    Please Please Please!

Inside I am squealing like little miss muffet!! Too mellow to actually do it aloud heh, but thought I would share the pic of my future baby boy with everyone! I know unexpected things can happen in life and this may fall through, in which case I will have no problem finding a rescue. Now...

Questions from a Researching Wannabe Chin Owner

News: I put an ebony male on hold today from a breeder! Added a dehumidifier to my list of things to buy. Kinda having a hard time finding a good vacuum for the cage though. I was thinking a mini shop vac, but I'm not sure how much the bags would cost or it's portability. A handheld vac...

    Please Please Please!

She offered to do the pending status, then I figured out the credit card bit and sent the money. Will be setting the cage up soon and posting pics on the FN thread in the next couple weeks. Thanks everyone for the advice and help!

That is a great point Laura. She is a show breeder, Che' Chinchillas in Ohio.

    Please Please Please!

No doubt there are plenty of reputable breeders! Unfortunately I could not find many breeders in my area. They tend to be waaaay up north or several hours away. Tried to keep closer to home so that the car ride wouldn't be too stressful or long. But you are right! It's meant to be when then time...

    Please Please Please!

I've found a breeder and the chin I want to buy from her. Now it's a race to be the first to lay down the 50% deposit! I tried setting up a paypal account, only to find it take a few days to confirm the account with the bank. So...the only other method is money order. I tried calling the breeder...

    Fleece cage linings

I'm going to bump this thread with an additional question... Some of the fleece linings fit differently. Some liners look like the sit on top and can be moved a bit. I think those that look fitted or pillow cased around the pan/shelf look much nicer. Are they fitted like a pillow case with...

Questions from a Researching Wannabe Chin Owner

Great idea to line the room with cardboard! Thanks tunes, that answered tons! I saw a few threads after posting this on the toxic/non-toxic debate of birch. Nice to have a rule to go by! Conditioning and training...So I guess my plans (once the chin is old enough) is to associate going in/out...

Questions from a Researching Wannabe Chin Owner

Hey everyone! Bought the Ferret Nation 142 model yesterday! My family and friends look at me like I'm crazy for spending that much on one cage for one chin. And that's why they should not be chin owners :neener: I can't wait to spoil my new buddy. Every chin owner should be required to...

    Chin Outside toys

Thanks for the tips and advice! More questions please!: Does having outside play-things reduce the habits of chewing on everything else in the room? Has anyone ever made mazes or more complex systems of treat retrieval to keep them occupied? Are they curious enough to remain interested in...

    Chin Outside toys

I've considered cutting up the extra cardboard we have and making a fort out of it. If it's nice enough, maybe use the cardboard plans to make a wooden pine version. I adore the chinnie chew chew from simplychintastic, but as that site is not availible, it has become a diy project.

Common chinchilla supplies/foods sold that are bad for your Chin?

It almost seems safer and wiser to make everything a diy project, albeit time consuming.

Yea, and I've read so much on their personalities changing through adolescence. Patience is always master.

    Yell from Ohio

Yell is short for Danielle. Got tired of people calling me Daniel lol. Not yet a chinchilla owner (yet!), but have been doing vast research the last few weeks. My goal is to be prepared to bring home a chin by the end of July. Goal one is to buy the Ferret/Critter Nation. Although I only...

    Cage Bumpers?

Will the metal pans make less noise than the plastic pans? Maybe enough fleece around the pans will prevent noise? I've seen a few noise complaints on here. Looks like some people remove the small pans on the FN anyway and put more ledges for their furry jumpers.

    Cage Bumpers?

Hey everyone :) Just another future newbie chin owner researching away! I have learned so much from this forum and you are all amazing. I am saving for the Critter/Ferret Nation Cage 162/142, they seem more or less the same unless I'm mistaken. For the sake of keeping the chin mess in the...
