    Gary loves his board :)

No, not at all. He has several wood chews. Some are fastened to the side of his cage, some are just loose chews that he can hold onto and some are hanging from the top of his cage and toilet paper rolls- with no adhesive of course ;) . So he has lots to chew on, he just always loves new stuff.

Is he trying to bite me?

Gary likes to sniff my fingers and will stick his nose and mouth thru the wires of his cage. Usually after he sniffs a little bit, he nips my finger and kinda rubs his teeth on my finger. Is he trying to bite me? I have read that they groom as a sign of affection, but i'm so scared that if i let...

    Gary loves his board :)

I went to the store and bought a 1/2'' x 6'' x 4' long Aspen board today that I'm cutting up to make chewable platforms for Gary to jump up on today. I didn't have a chance to get them cut into smaller pieces today but I had the board leaning up against the wall next to Gary's cage. Everytime I...

    Warning: Vent!

I bought Gary from an ad like that. It worked out well for everyone. I didn't have a ton of money to spend on a cage, then a chin, then all the extras. but was glad to find a packaged deal. It turns out, the kid who had him graduated highschool an moved into an apartment where chins were not...

    Newspaper in cage

I guess just as added absorbancy? I think it was just one of those things that was ground into my head when I was a kid. I had a rabbit once and was always told to put newspaper under the bedding.. then again, the rabbit wasn't directly on the bedding, so i suppose it makes a difference. But if...

    How to say No.

Hi everyone! Just a quick question of ways to get your chin to stop doing something. During playtime, My chin likes gnawing on the baseboards in my bathroom. Normally I wouldn't see it as a huge deal since we are remodeling in a few months, but the wood is treated so I dont want it to hurt him...

    Newspaper in cage

Is it harmful to my chin to have a layer of newspaper under his bedding? So far he hasn't found it n started chewing, but I know a time will come when he'll start trying to eat it. Is this dangerous for him to eat?

    Is this normal?

Thanks for the feedback. I wondered about them being plastic. I'm completely fine with pulling them out and replacing them, but right now, he hasn't shown any interest in chewing them.. Is it ok to leave them there until he starts to show interest in them?

    Hanging wood chew with bell

I recently bought a hanging wood chew for Gary to gnaw on.. It has a bell on the bottom which seems like it attracts Gary just as much as the wood does.. Is this bell safe for him? I'm nervous that he will somehow hurt himself by either gnawing on the bell itself or getting the part that hits...

need a lil help with Hair Ring checks

I'm still working on getting my chin Gary to bond and trust me. So far I can pet him but he doesn't like to be picked up. Should I pick him up anyway to check for hair rings or wait until he trusts me to handle him more and only check sooner if he starts showing symptoms? I read somewhere that...

    Is this normal?

My 2 year old chin that i've had for about a week has no interest in running in his wheel. When I got him a week ago, he did not have a wheel so I bought him a new 8" standard wheel (is metal woven, no spokes of course ;)) He tried to chew on it once but never went inside and never ran in it. I...

    Needs suggestions please!!

Thanks for the advice! I threw out my ball this morning and will start working with him to get used to me touching him more. I started adding more toys last night since all he had was a wheel that he never uses. He seemed super excited and got to playing right away. So far he has only barked...

Hi Everyone, I'm a new chin owner and new to cnh. But I was really hoping for some feedback.. My chin Gary is about 2, and I've had him for 1 week and have spent several hours a day talking to him, feeding him and playing with him. However, I am still afraid he will bite me. He has never tried...
