There is a wood hideaway on the left side, directly under the first shelf. All my breeding cages have one, and never had any problems with the babies.

That's not exactly what I'm saying. My concern is that it's easy for a baby to be wondering around the bottom and mom jump off, land on the kit, and kit go into shock and die, it's happened before. Most breeders will recommend that you have no shelves in the cage, or if you do that they not be more than a few inches from the cage bottom. That's why most maternity cages sold for chins are usually no higher than 18".

I see what your saying. I know how crazy chins can be. Alot of things can happen in my breeding cages and smaller cages without ledges. If it was meant to be than so be it. My cages are 24 high. I have ledges in all eight of them.

Tunes,
They are my first pink white babies! I can't wait until they round up!
In which case I think photos of them as they grow are a must too.

I agree with Diva about the shelves seeming high - in the UK (in general for breeding) we do not use cages over 18" high and most of us stick to 15". :)

I post my chinchiillas as they get older on my website. You are more than welcome to track them as they get older. www.furrylovables.com but, when they are weaned and sold at 8 to 12 weeks, their pics are out of my control.

Oh, right - I was not sure if you would be keeping one or both of them since they are your first p/ws? :)

I'm keeping the female. The boy still don't have a deposit. The female will be listed under my chins, once she's older.

We're waiting for the "ADDICTION" to set in - the virus is hidden in one of them, and we'll never tell! :tease:

UMMMM.... yeah.... it already did.... I'm already browsing the classifieds, lol
