I have an apple tree, crabapple tree and a plum tree. I am pretty sure that the apple ones are okay for chins but unsure of the plum. Do I need to do anything to it before I can give it to them? It is already dry since it was dead pieces I pruned off.
Thanks.

Just as a side, I don't like giving dead wood to the chins. When I collect twigs and things for the chins I take live wood and then dry it out. Sure it's dead by the time I give it to the chins, but I don't trust not knowing why it's dead on the tree or many times the dead part on the tree is super dried out and gross.

Maybe I'm just being picky, but that's how I do it when collecting twigs.

Plum is a stone fruit and should not be used. Both apple trees are fine.
