well, my boss brought a cold to work for me--i woke up this morning all sniffly and bleary, and i thought at first it was just the usual allergies.
i'm worried that Jonesy can catch it--i've heard both that chins are and aren't susceptible to sicknesses we get.
i think it's too late to avoid touching her, since my boss was sick over the weekend, which means i would have come home with germs Sunday night. we've had tons of contact since then, and she likes to nibble my face, so that's no good.
what should i watch her for? she always rubs her nose with her paws, so that won't tell me anything.
worry, worry.

Just wash, wash and wash before you touch her. Don't give her kisses and try not to hold her until you feel better.

limit your exposure to her. have hubby do cage cleaning and play times until you are feeling better. if you must go near her, scrub up good beforehand and wear a mask if you're sniffly/coughing. it is best to not be in contact at all with chins when you're sick.

i know it'll kill you to stay away from Jonesy, but it's the best for her health :))

When I am sick I go to basic care, Lots of washing hands, feed, water and otherwise stay away. Just to be safe

i think it might just be really bad hay fever or other random allergies. i'm better tonight, and she still seems her usual self.
no runny nose, sneeze, or funny breathing, just glee over her new sticks and especially her very first cholla log from Ronda.
she's much too bouncy to be getting sick...i'll watch her obsessively for the next few days, anyway.

Also, make sure if anyone in your house gets cold sores they stay away from the chin when a outbreak is active, herpes simplex 1 is fatal to chinchillas, just a FYI!

oh, no, we don't have that--just a few STDs she can't catch. (KIDDING)

so far, so good. she's her active, bratty self and this seems to be a pretty minor cold, if it is indeed one.
i talked to her breeder and she approved a 1/2 rosehip for the vitamin C boost, which set my mind at ease and might have been the highlight of Jonesy's life thus far. :)
