So this morning while I was getting ready for work, I heard Eli make a funny little squeak noise. I looked over at her and saw that she had just been drinking from the water bottle and now was seeming to be having what I assume were hiccups. It worried me because she pawed her mouth a couple of times and then she just seemed to have little body jumps (like a human would if they had hiccups but were trying to hold it in) I got her out of the cage and opened her mouth to make sure she didn't have something stuck on her teeth. When I did this, I noticed that she has a white spot on one of her teeth. It is not all white, it really is just a spot. I didn't notice anything else, no drool or anything else of worry. I put her back into the cage and watched her for awhile and she was fine, didn't paw her mouth and stopped the little body jumps. Tonight she is acting fine so I am guessing it really just might have been hiccups from drinking water too fast or something. But now I wondering about that tooth.

Her history is that I got her from a guy that breed petstore chins and was giving away the babies. He seemed to really care about the chins but I think he was probably following petstore advice and that is about it. I do not know what type of food she was eating when I got her, because he did not remember the name of it. I am sure it was some junk petstore stuff. She was 4 months old when I got her, and I have had her for two months. She has always seemed in good health, he did give them baths and her poops have always been fine. Since coming to live with me, I cold switched her to Manna Pro Sho (since I didn't know what he was feeding her), all my girls have Timothy hay at all times that I buy in a bale from Stanlee Hay - http://www.standleehay.com/prodbales.htm

Do I need to worry about this spot or just keep an eye on it? I do not know if this spot was on her tooth when I got her, this is the first time I have looked at her teeth. I am thinking this white spot might be the result of poor nutrition before I got her, and perhaps it was worse and is now getting better that is why it is now a spot. I checked her sister and her teeth look nice and orange. I managed to get a pretty decent pic since I am home alone and had to hold her, open her mouth, and snap the pic all at once!

I wouldn't worry. In a month or so it will probably be gone completely. She may have rubbed the tooth against the cage bars or something and just wore the orange off that one part of the tooth.

Give her lots of fun stuff to chew and keep giving her good food and she will be fine. How long have you had her?

You did a very fine job of getting tooth pictures with this chin! It's always so hard to do... :)

I have had her and her sister for two months, they are spoiled rotten with apple sticks and toys I have made from Barbi's wood (PPBN), oh and they love pumice.

I can't believe I got those pics! Of course there were a few that I deleted because all they showed was part of an ear, a foot, a fuzzy blur :D

as Susan said I wouldn't worry about the white spot. And, yes, some chins do have hiccups. Just like people, it annoys the heck out of them.

If it was a band across both teeth it would have been from poor nutrition, since its just a spot on one tooth I would not worry about it.
